Leda-Lite International Limited are situated in the town of Chelmsford, Essex, the home of photoluminescent products in the UK. Fifteen years ago this is where the "glow in the dark" product originated from, but more importantly the birthplace of LED streetlighting products.
Since March 2001 we have been astounded at the numerous possibilities that have arisen due to the new generation of Light Emitting Diodes. Never before has it been possible to produce LED street lighting products.
The LED's which we have used are the brightest products available. We have incorporated these products in Belisha Beacon lamps, Keep Left bollards, Omnidirectional Obstruction beacons, plus many other everyday products.
Because of the green issues which are ever changing our everyday existence, LED's which are non-toxic, non radioactive are going to become more important over the coming years. Many problems will become apparent with the disposal of fluorescent lamps due to mercury content and contaminated glass, which cannot be recycled.
Maintenance costs can be more than halved because LED's are so economical. Electrical costs are minimised because of low power consumption. LED's are useable at full power for over 50,000 hours, if switched with light columns this could be extended to 100,000 hours.

For over ten years we have installed low location lighting systems to cruise ships, cross channel ferries, discotheques and hotels. These also incorporate photoluminescent signage as LED's are one of the best sources of light to activate the photoluminescent material, which in turn increases the afterglow of the product.
LED's therefore are an important product to consider when replacing or refurbishing Safety systems.
